Original French Edwardian Photo Frame Pendant mount, approx. 30 x 25 mm (1 1/4″ x 1″) with a gold coloured brass edge framing a silverplated repousse panel with bees flying both into and out of a Beehive under the rays of the sun. It is a charming image of their daily activity and their tiny size next to their well built home sitting on a base of summer meadow foliage. I have had previouslythe companion from the same company with a Swallow carrying lucky no. 13 on a banner’Je porte Bonheur’ – I bring good luck – another surprisingly contemporary design circa 1910. The frame is stamped GalbEmail Depose France and BE SGDG which shows it to be produced by a reputable French Company awaiting a patent Brevete sans guarantie du Government. There is a makers mark of initials. Weight 4.4 grams. The frame is empty for your own photo or lucky emblem and this will bring the contents up to the required depth to stabilise the movement of the components. The thin repousse silver plated layer is partnered by a convex oval mirror plated layer which will support the photo. Authentic piece with a theme that has retained its appeal.
